Food Minister Ram Vilas Paswan on Maggi Noodles Controversy

New Delhi:  Union Food and Consumer Affairs Minister Ram Vilas Paswan on Wednesday ordered safety checks on Maggi instant noodles after food inspectors in several states said the test batches of the popular snack were found to contain dangerous levels of lead.

Today, he addressed the media on what the government plans to do further. Here are the highlights:

• Authority will do investigation and will submit report to National Commission


• It is for the first time after Independence that suo moto cognizance in such matter is taken and case is referred to National Commission
