Under Virat Kohli’s leadership, Team India is looking to put plans into action and face Sri Lanka Board President’s XI in a warm up match. Catch the live and latest updates from Day 1 of the match:


* India openers get a move on. After 12 overs, the team total is 37 with Dhawan on 25 ( five fours) and Lokesh on 11.


* The rate of scoring continues to be rather dismal. After eight overs, India are 14 for no loss. Dhawan is on 11 with two fours to his name while Lokesh has scored three.


* Both Dhawan and Lokesh are off the mark. The Delhi batsman in fact has even managed to find the boundary once.


* Talk about a watchful start! India openers Shikhar Dhawan and Lokesh Rahul play have played out three maiden overs after being asked to bat. SL Pres. XI operating currently with the pace duo of Nisala Tharaka and Vishwa Fernando.


* Toss! President’s XI win the toss and will field first against India.

While rain has been threatening to interrupt the match in Colombo, Thursday emerged under clear and sunny skies. Kohli was seen talking to his players in a huddle and the touring party appeared confident and at ease to face Sri Lanka Board President’s XI. The fact that some of the big names in the side are coming from a break was evident as the general mood in the Indian camp looked calm.


A day earlier, captain Kohli had said he is sure of being able to bat as well as lead the team in Sri Lanka. “Captaincy and batting are two aspects that I will not try to mix. I do not think I need to change anything,” said Kohli. “It is going to be a very competitive series from the aspect that both sides have young players who have performed well.” (Read more here)
