Delhi Government Show-Causes 2 Hospitals for Refusing Dengue Patient

Delhi Government Show-Causes 2 Hospitals for Refusing 7-Year-Old Dengue Patient

7-year-old Avinash died of dengue after being denied to be treated in 2 private hospitals.

New Delhi:  Delhi Government today issued show-cause notices to two private hospitals in South Delhi for their alleged refusal to admit a seven-year-old dengue patient who later died.

The government move comes after parents of the boy, who died of suspected dengue after allegedly being denied admission by the private hospitals, committed suicide by jumping from a four-storeyed building in South Delhi’s Lado Sarai.

Health Minister Satyendar Jain has directed “strictest” action against those who flout the August 28 advisory which makes it mandatory for all hospital and nursing homes to admit patient suffering from dengue.

He has also asked the private hospitals to increase the number of beds dedicated to dengue patients by 10 per cent.

The couple’s only son, Avinash, died of suspected dengue on September 8 after allegedly being denied admission by the private hospitals the previous day.
