The BCCI selection committee, which met in Bengaluru on Sunday, selected veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh for the three match-T20I series against South Africa, starting on October 2 in Dharamsala. They also selected new faces Gurkeerat Mann (batsman) and Sreenath Aravind (fast bowler) for the South Africa ODI and T20I series respectively. India will play five ODIs and three T20Is against the Proteas.

However, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja did not find a place in either the ODI or the T20I squad. Both Mann and Aravind are part of the India A team which is currently playing a three-match series against Bangladesh A. Also, Amit Mishra is back in the T20I squad in place of Karn Sharma.

India had lost their previous ODI series 1-2 against Bangladesh in June. After the Bangladesh series, India toured Zimbabwe in July but in that series most of the senior players were rested.
